Flight Attendant Loves Her Job, But Not Glenn Tilton
I have been a United Flight Attendant for 19+ years and want to offer my support to this website. We certainly need a positive change at our Airline and I agree United has been poorly managed for way to many years. I will be thrilled when Tilton and his appointed staff have left United Airlines. I hope he will be replaced by someone that does not underestimate (like Glenn Tilton has) the value of hardworking and dedicated employees.
Never in my career at United have I felt so undervalued as a human being and employee and sadly I am one of many employees who feel the same. Yes, I could get another job, but mine is unique and one I have grown to like very much. I choose to be confident in United's future and a good start would be a new leader.
My best to all United pilots, the most professional and safest pilots in the Airline industry!

This 1K Says, "Go, Glenn, Go!"
I've been a 1K for a number of years: 2009 will be my last. Why? Well, Glenn Tilton decided that shutting-down UA's Anchorage hub as of 9/08 was a good idea. Besides putting scores of hardworking UA employees out of work, he has abandoned the biggest state in the Union. In all my years as a loyal UA flyer, I've never seen more than a couple of empty seats in or out of ANC. Instead of increasing the size or the frequency of aircraft to Alaska, Tilton decided to abandon the high revenue Alaskan market completely. The man is an idiot: it's time for him to be shown the door.

What if Glenn Tilton Was Your Banker?
I am a longtime United customer. It has been disheartening to participate in the continuing diminution of service.
Now I believe the possibility exists that UAL might end its operation entirely.
Mr. Tilton meanwhile has been rewarded by his board of directors — not terminated — for his performance.
This picture is out of focus.
Can you imagine if Mr. Tilton was your local banker?

Million Mile Flier Wants to Help
I fly a lot—I am a United 1K/1.5 million miler who has logged 110k so far this year.
When the pilots, flight attendants, and ground staff are seething at Mr. Tilton—and all are—it is time for Mr. Tilton to go.
Again, can ALPA work in concert with other unions and United’d top-tier passengers?

My name is Kevin and I am a 1K member with United. My father is also a retired United pilot (flew over 40 years & retired in July 2001) and an ALPA member.
You guys do a great job and DO NOT DESERVE the things that are happening to you and the airline. United needs a CEO who will work hand in hand with ALL it’s employess and take the same pay cuts as they do and not take bonuses (like Continental’s CEO). He needs to be upbeat and excited about United and it’s employees, and willing to go the extra mile with them and it’s customers. I, as part of the flying public try as much as possible to fly on United (it’s like a home to me since I have been flying United since I was 6 months old) and recomend them to friends. I will do whatever I can to support YOU and the United employees, not the management!

What About TED?
This is a great website, and I’m sorry for the employees of United. Needless to say, as a frequent paying business customer, your website provides the “facts” for the customer experience all around at United.
I would be certainly interested in your take on the start-up, and ultimate shutdown of TED. Seems to me to be a huge strategic and financial blunder in attempting a low-cost airline within a legacy airline, as United as exiting bankruptcy. I’m surprised it hasn’t been listed yet, under operational, strategic and/or financial failures.
I support your cause, but always realize there’s another side to every story. Your website, however, is very compelling.

Four Dozen SVPs = Inefficiency
Thank you for a long overdue forum dedicated to ridding this once great airline of this pariah.
With four dozen plus senior vice presidents with titles like VP of Aircraft Appearance, VP of Corporate Identity, or, my favorite, Senior VP of the Office of the Chairman, United labors under a bloated, inefficient, and corrupt bureaucracy, many of whom are Ferris-era holdovers who have bled this company dry for more than two decades!! Don’t stop with Tilton - Brace, Macdonald, Fields, et al must go and a new management team interested in running an airline, and not a private fiefdom complete with serfs and indentured servants, needs to be brought in.
The billions of dollars squandered on ill conceived and short-sighted projects (e.g. dual loading bridges at ten million a copy, or the pursuit of USAir for $60/share back in 1999/2000 when Southwest was busy hedging fuel contacts) is obscene. Bad management is the culprit and there is no other explanation or excuse.

Tilton's Hourly Pay Sickens Pilot
GREAT idea and website folks!!! I’m also a UAL pilot, and want to throw something at you. People understand dollars and cents, so what do you think about breaking down Glenn’s $36 million salary as we exited bankruptcy demonstrating his shared sacrifice like this:
$36 million/year = $3 million/month = $98,630/day = $4110/hour = $68/minute (all based on a 24 hour day). Those numbers sicken me, as like the rest of us, I only got the shared sacrifice piece of the pie.

Tilton Foiled His Own Merger Plans
I think the most poignant example of Glenn Tilton’s mismanagement is that he even foiled his own plans for a merger with Continental. Continental declined to merge with UA because it’s own due diligence came to the very same conclusion. UA has been mis-managed into such a poor airline that merging with UA would be a liability to Continental. Thanks to Tilton’s mistakes, UA is now the ugly bride no one wants to marry!
